Couples counselling and Trauma

Ever feel like your relationship reactions are bigger than the situation in front of you?

That’s often a sign that something deeper may be happening beneath the surface—especially when trauma is part of your story. I specialize in couples counselling and trauma-informed therapy, supporting partners who feel stuck in patterns of conflict, distance, or emotional disconnection.

Trauma doesn’t just live in the past—it can show up in relationships as• heightened reactivity or shutdown• difficulty trusting your partner’s intentions• fear of abandonment or rejection• cycles of conflict that feel hard to break Even when you love each other, your nervous system may be responding as if you’re not safe.

My work is informed by training in Conjoint CBT for PTSD and the Gottman Method Couples Therapy, both evidence-based approaches that help couples understand patterns and rebuild emotional safety.

what helps

In Therapy, we can:

• Identifying triggers and relational patterns

• Learning tools to regulate emotions in real time

• Improving communication and repair after conflict

• Strengthening trust and emotional attunement

• Rebuilding connection without re-traumatizing each other

Benefits

With support, couples often experience:

• Less reactive conflict and more understanding
• A stronger sense of emotional safety
• Improved communication and intimacy
• More secure attachment and trust
• Feeling like a team again instead of opponents

You don’t have to keep repeating the same painful cycles. Healing is possible when we understand what’s driving them.
